Merit is one of the best llama herd sires around and truly one of a kind. You will search long and hard before finding a breeding male as stellar as Merit. This is a statement that can be backed up by superior accomplishments. Merit is the only male to ever win Grand Champion at the Celebrity, Regionals, and Nationals, and he did it all in the same year! These events together are the equivalent of the "Triple Crown", llama style. We purchased Merit from Ron and Maggie Schuler of Bauernheim Llamas, just before they announced that they were selling their herd, and we owe them all our gratitude for allowing us to purchase him. Merit is very well known in the llama community, as he has been very successful in the show ring and also in producing show winning offspring. Merit has his ALSA ROM award in Get of Sire and Halter, and is an ALSA Halter Champion and Get of Sire Champion as well. Some of his accomplishments are below. His cria for us have been nothing short of spectacular. We have been using him the past few years and his influence is evident in our herd now.
Maggie Schuler wrote on her web page: "The first time we saw Merit was at the Boise, Idaho show in May 1997. He literally stopped us dead in our tracks. He took Grand Champion honors at that time, at less than 8 months of age! Merit's birthday is the same as our son, Zak's, and Merit's sire's nickname is Zachary! Toni Landis, who bred Merit, knew he was meant to be with us. Merit traveled on to Fort Worth in January 1998 where he placed 2nd out of 22 llamas at 16 months old. But the most exciting honor so far was winning his division and coming home with Grand Champion honors in the 1998 World Futurity! He is everything we could ever hope for in a llama and he truly makes our hearts sing!"
Highlights of Merit's Accomplishments: 1998 Celebrity World Futurity - Grand Champion Merit also has: 34 ALSA Halter points You will find photos of Merit's offspring on the Crias page.
